Actually it’s quite common sense, except kept uncommon by those who demanded more and more proof. I hope this is sufficient.
Oh, and as a kind of anecdotal observation, dogs rarely get cancer if fed decently and kept away from lawns heavily sprayed with pesticides. Dogs produce their own Vitamin C. And there are many others that produce Vit. C as well.
Also Nobel laureate, Linus Pauling recommended high doses of Vitamin C to even ward off the common cold. He believed that it increased the tenacity of the connective tissues surrounding your body, thereby warding off even viruses.
