You need to watch his 20 min. video. It should affect how you lead the rest of your life (in your present form) and guide you onto the next.
We all need sunlight, clean air, water and soil. In providing for others these, you are insuring that a sufficient remainder is there for the next generation.
However, from my passing knowledge from Ocean Engineering course entitled Geo-marine Chemistry, pollution is defined as an oversupply of either a nutrient or a toxin; an oversupply is defined as not being able to be metabolized by the surrounding life.
So if locating factories near estuaries or streams is unavoidable where runoff into the shallow water accelerates toxin and nutrient concentrations, special attention needs to be paid to the handling of waste. Waste to fertilizer and natural gas is an ideal option.
The Japanese toilet/sinks where hand wash water goes into the toilet flush tank is also a great way to reduce materials and water use. Fresh, Gray, and Black water systems as those in ships and RV’s would also be a solution with great benefit/minimal cost on new construction.
Much of South Florida finds itself polluting because it ignores the surrounding estuaries. This Spring in its dryness is particularly wonderful; birds in the morning are everywhere. The runoff from rain and peoples pesticides, selecticides and fertilizers have dropped to zero.
Therefore, one of the challenges is to sequester the runoff and that means installing shallow french drains in every yard to force the chemicals into the ground, and not accumulate in canals and being led off to the estuaries.
Having some experience from my FEMA days, there is a critical time as a large storm approaches when a super low tide occurs as the storm winds wind up a Pillow of water off shore. That is the time when all the 284 flood gates should be opened and every pump activated to dry out the canals with all their pollution. In a few short hours, the storm Pillow will mix the toxins and nutrients and dilute them so that they can be metabolized by the envigorated life forms, enabled and brought in by the storm.
