Child Behavior Solutions from the grandson of the inventor of the Tinker Toy

It’s not often that refer to child development issues beyond what my dad and I wrote in his first book, ‘Parents in Positive Control’, SeaGrape Press, 1987. But words do matter, and the programing of those, especially under 4 is critical. My dad’s ‘No No-Nos’ at least for 1/2 waking hours is a little vague, but the idea of giving confidence and self-awareness is the idea. That’s why he liked to have children play alone. However, I was put in my bear-cage ( a crib on top of a crip, tied so it hinged on one side) and became so confident that I untied the knot, escaped and at the top of the stairs was churtling loud enough so Ada heard me, and ran in just as I was about to roll into the 90 degree landing about 10 stairs down and a solid wall. Life saver. So over-confidence can occur with isolation combined with a lot of love, but not concurrently.
Now, as to Tinker Toys, Ms. Grace Pageau Murdough was my mom’s best friend growing up; we used to enjoy her Christmas parties with lots of cookies and carol singing every year in her Evanston home. Late in life, after going to the Vanderbilt mansion in NC, mom mentioned that Grace and she were invited by the Vanderbilts in the late 1920’s as Grace’s dad had invented the Tinker Toy, and the Vanderbilts had a great basement with indoor pool and large playrooms. They celebrated toys. I believe that Mr. Pageau was also there, but he didn’t hang out with the kids so much.
Tom Murdough, son was also the originator of the Little Tikes toys, but he sold out years ago to the Japanese, I’m told. The 2nd Step has a lot of good things, and I was hoping to contact him to discuss combining for a structural plastic component to the log cabin designs.
