While the UN seems to like Global Warming, too, it is nice that they give a little attention to the major cause of death in the world. Remember the 150,000 people that were mobilized to scrape off the tons of algae growing and clogging up the bay where the 2008 Olympic sailing was to happen. Not too much, right… no one saw.
And keep spraying your lawns, and spraying your house and car and kids….
naturalnumber:

A new UN report says more people die from polluted water than from all forms of violence, including war.
Monday’s report says an estimated 2 billion tons of waste water — including fertilizer run-off, sewage and industrial waste — is being discharged daily. That waste fuels the spread of disease and damages ecosystems.
Sick Water — the report launched by the UN Environment Program to coincide with World Water Day — says 3.7 per cent of all deaths are attributed to water-related diseases, translating into millions of deaths.
The report says that it takes three litres of water to produce one litre of bottled water, and that bottled water in the U.S. requires the consumption of some 17 million barrels of oil yearly. (via Polluted water kills more than all violence: UN - The Globe and Mail)
