So ‘swerving’ can be caused by the Einstein’s ‘mass attraction’ as light passes near the sun is curved in an eclipse, or as a man falls from his bicycle when he notices a beautiful girl in the movie ‘Geisha’. The Dis meaning away from the Tract of -traction is what we commonly experience in moments of pleasing ‘at traction’. So pleasing is recognizing …. re (again) cognizing (thinking) something that takes you away from your task at hand …. momentum driven inertial activity …. and refocuses you toward a thing of beauty, pleasant, or certain. How many of these have phi (1.618) coefficients involved would be an interesting study. Certainly beauty has been recognized as fitting within this two dimensional ratio.
The problem with Greek ‘democracy’, our forefathers noted, was that the ‘last best argument won’, like in sports. That works for sports … but it becomes mob rule as everyone wants to jockey for the last position … and the powerful either enforce themselves on the people or always ‘one-up’ the opposing view, even if it is almost overwhelmingly supported. Hence, the forcing of Socrates, who taught by asking and encouraging questions, to drink the fatal Hemlock.
Minority, small seeds of logical and helpful information are important and can supersede a majority. Obama certainly will try this, but his mammoth, 2400 page, plus secret deals hardly fits into the mould of the ‘small seed’…. and he becomes the leader of the mob, even a minority one.
