I looked at this, like the clocks drooping on the walls, as bullfight (a bull on the left) and the horse in the middle with the broken piccette (sword). But from Nazi Lufwaffe destruction, I didn’t feel it - maybe too foreign, too ‘cubist’ and in simple emotional structure. But it’s the mother with the child screaming upward, and parts not whole that breaks the news … this is horrible …Picasso, a father wants to sooth us. If we are still alive, well then maybe it is better to look at it as a bull fight, with known victims and assailants. You don’t have to be involved.
But then History comes jumping up; that was just a taste of the great war WWII, where 60 million lives were lost, 20 million from Russia …. Is it all then just a bigger bullfight? Who are the victims; the assailants? Can you opt out? Is the world big enough? Just how big is a megaton? Are we safe enough? Are we smart enough to see so far and wide that what can be stopped is, and what should be let go, finds freedom … and then look back to the bullfight, Hole Lay?
