Walmart, and Publix offers discounted medicines (Publix offers free a few generic antibiotics (but you still need a perscription). So the cost at Walmart is about the same or cheaper. If the ‘greed’ factor of ‘doctoring’ is out of the equation (where the doctor tells you your Bronchitis or Pneunomia is ‘just a virus’ on the first visit, and expects that 2nd visit to come in a few days … maybe even a hospital referral … (actually happened with my child) … but we fooled them and went to the walk in clinic and got the Xray to show lungs half full of fluid … and then we got great antibiotics … we never went back to the pediatrician hack.
So if medical savings accounts can be used at Walmart, etc. this will give good competition to doctors, clinics. Pehaps they won’t ‘supersize the number of visits per patient’ like they now do.
Goodman also has a blah blah on his Health Plan … you might want to take a read… lots of people are independent, part time and contract and will always be so it’s a poor model to have a system for ‘just full time employees.’
