Forget that CO2 is the ‘problem’, but it may be an indicator that energy consumption, accelerating is allowing heavy metals (mercury in diesel and coal) or production of pesticides, herbicides, and selecticides and distribution upon the land is occurring to support the increased density and allowed by the increasing buying power of the individual.
If this is accurate, and I suspect that it is not, as the individual in China using less than 1/8 of an US citizen as dipicted with the greatest growth as a nation, has not experienced the population growth as indicated by multiplying the individual amount to the total in the years 2000 and 2005. I believe that the individual slope or increase must be greater from that period.
I suspect there’s ‘fudging of the collective’, hardly a crime, considering the ‘fudging of lending, finance, etc. in the USA. But if this is a UN document, certain ‘fudgcycles’ should be obvious.
A corrected, accurate graph would be an interesting document to see where ‘markets’ could assist in the lowering of the individual consumption and therefore runaway acceleration of ‘mistakes’ from over abundance or energy use.
