History, Science How cool is this dude? How cool is this Thomson: Charles Thomson, arrived shipwrecked in 1730 at age 11, his father died and money stolen; he became Secretary to the Continental Congress for 15 years and another 6 to Congress; he was the translator from Greek from the Vatican text, of the 1st American Bible, published by the first woman publisher, Jane Aitkin, in Philadelphia, 1808. Having been shipwrecked off he coast of Delaware in a storm, he perhaps met some help from the Delaware Indians and later dealings. They called him ‘Weh-wo-la-ent’ -Wehwolaent or ‘The Man who speaks Truth’. He also became the Master of the Friends Academy, a Quaker school in Philadelphia. He bought the text of the greek translation as a whim from a bookshop. I’d say this Thomson knew a few absolutes as well. Oh and if you’re looking for a copy, Google has one from the Harvard Theological Library… go for it … it might just surprise you. You know the beatitudes… ‘Blessed is…’ well forget ‘blessed’ , it’s ‘Happy….’ Might just bring a little joy in your life… I always wondered what happens with ‘blessed’… like after you sneeze, or get extra snacks when you get to heaven, because ‘blessed’ doesn’t give you a real tangible sense of the temperature around you, if you get my drift. Hey, be good … be happy. Catchy.Sir William Thomson, Baron Kelvin, (1824-1907)
