Lauren Driscoll is the star of the FLA USA swim club. Bravo on her 6th place qualifying prelim. A 4:09.19 or averaging 31.15 sec for each 50 m.
A heads up to Henry Kimball who would have finished 7th in the state of FL with his 4:45.52 in the 500 yd. free in the 2A league of last year, but this year finished 16th in the 3A. His best time and remember, without the fancy swim suits. The winner set a new FL state record of 4:22.33 or 26.233 sec per 50 yards. That was a guy thing…. a wee bit faster than the women. Henry averaged 28.552 per 50 yds. Not bad.
The difference in the long course(50 m. length) and the short course 25yds. is that there are fewer push offs and swimming is the thing….. so you might think that slower times are part of the long course… actually it’s just more swimming, less pushing off the sides. Henry’s last spring’s swim in the 400 m. was averaging 32.94 per 50 meters.
