I want to dedicate this to Patrick Swazye, an actor who played his best in ‘Ghost’, Dirty Dancing’, and City of Joy’,
In particular, Kalcotta in ‘City of Joy’, a place of great poverty and corruption tries the best in us all and thereby leads us to that best. Patrick playing a doctor who could not accept medicine after losing a young girl, realized that his life was at the pleasure of the imitation of his father’s life … there he was tried into utter painful existence, but was saved from evil by someone else also a victim, whose courage increased as his desparation grew. The vicimizers of poverty like drugs, insurance by mob and lending are a few of the ways that concentrate in the absolute poor. This 1992 film brought Patrick to India like Bogart to Africa in the ‘African Queen’.
Anyway the song frogettes (back to Monte Python’s Meaning of lIfe) to mention that the meaning is generally , do good, read a book sometimes, accept any other faithbased person who equally respects your outlook (I paraphrase)… so that’s it. If Patrick lead us even an inch closer to that goal, that is Victory, and as I read today of a swim mom’s T shirt, ‘Pain is temporary, Victory is forever.’ And even that little bitty one … that’s a victory that in Spacetime was an Eventspace. … and you got to keep moving … if only cause you’re sittin’ on a zippidy do da day.
