Science, Theology That was 65 million years ago, this is today. Part of the issue is to keep looking up and analysing what’s there, where’s it going, and how do I stop it or deflect it WHEN it’s heading for me. A new Oct. 09 Popular Sci. magazine article brings some things home, or rather introduces the ‘dark flow’ that is 46.5 Billion light years away, but is accelerating clusters of galaxies away from the visible universe from a lens of 20 degrees. It doesn’t say if we are in that lens. BTW, the farthest we can see is 13 or so Billion light years away, and the 380k years before that, that being the ‘big bang’, it was so gravitationally charged that light could not escape and so looped back into the supposedly decelerating masses…. but now we have an accelerating mass of unknown size but if some of the galaxies are known to have centers with dark matter at from 2 million (like Milky Way) to billions of our sun masses at the center, this projected distant dark energy, matter or flow must be really big… like 10to the 30th sun masses if we have any sign that distance squared is the operative determining influence at distances….. It also means that our ‘big bang’ was not the be all end all event that some would think likely. It could have been one of many, happening in the sector of the universe that we call home (our 13.5 billion light year radius). If anyone wants to hum Bette Midler’s ‘From a Distance’, now is a good time.
