Abtruse Goose » Dear CERNHumor, Physics, Theology That brings me to that subject: Forgiveness. Well, I can forgive a debt if you owed me money, but I can also choose to lengthen the terms… so I just forgive some of the interest. This applies whether I’m a Theist, Atheist, or Antitheist. But can I forgive you if you murder my unborn child? It was not my life to begin with. It was part of me, but then not mine. Whose is it? If you are a Theist, then you believe that it was of that miracle we call life, and it is his to take or give. Then He is the one to forgive. ‘Thou shalt not kill’ —- so it doesn’t look good. ‘Love they neighbor as thyself and love me.’ Double not good, even for those easy going Christians. That’s for a Theist. For an atheist, it really goes to your individual heart. It was partly you… therefore it is an assault on yours, but society is so harsh; times are tough, etc….. You make the call. For the antitheist, does it make my life better or not? Does it make your life better or not, you being the mother? Answer, and then decide how much to forgive. Maybe you can even make some money on the deal. So when Higgs finds you, not you it, what happens to the views of the atheist and antitheist. Well, it is said that ‘Fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge. Prov. 1:7’ I would expect some fear would be appropriate. The second part of that proverb is: ‘fools despise wisdom and instruction’, which would seem to be a good ‘kick it the pants’. To be a success in any society, as a member it takes appreciating wisdom and being able to listen to instruction, as well as then once older, becoming of wisdom and appreciated as wise, and then of instruction, and being able to instruct. Oh yea, see the movie, Oh God, with George Burns. 1977. God admits his mistakes, Avacado, Ostridge… but really wants you to appreciate fish …’you try to make a fish’. Yea, and on time, when He awoke about 2 hrs. ago, human time, ‘Sigmund Freud was still in medical school’ … that’s about a hundred years. So God time one hour = 50 years .. so the 7 days to make the world was actually 8400 years in human time. Which aligns us back to the end of the last mini iceage or about 12k years ago….and taking 2000 years before that, at 14k, start the clock and wallah….. Eden at 5700 yrs ago more or less… and here we are. We might just assume, as Theists, that He made some pretty dramatic worlds before he settled down to the one we know and love. Yea, George Burns, RIP…. and give a big hug to Gracie.
