You: Why Dave; why now?
Me: Well, I've two talented kids; the younger mentioned my stopping with the lectures. Then enthusiastically asked, 'Dad, can I help you set up a blog?' Moments later, Me: 'OK, that's a great idea, thinkin' they might just read it someday.

Note that for 3 sides, internal angles total 180, 4 at 360, 5 sides for 540, and 6 at 720 degrees.  So making a container with those angles and numbers of cuts becomes rather a geometric mash-up.  Cut up a circle in 3 equal portions gives us 120 degrees each, half of what is need for a hexagonal container, and if you cut the circle 6 times, you can make 2 triangle containers.

A lot to think about Mr. Cordwoody, there in the lower right picture.

Peter Marigold’s furniture design series Split is based on one simple geometric principle:

The inverted angles of a shape split into pieces will always add up to 360 degrees. The angles can be interchanged but will always form a whole.
