Princeton bioethicist Peter Singer argues for rationing health care. OK, I say include Everyone, then ....
History, Law, Medicine
For a long time in my life, I have been involved in disabilities and healthcare. I have mentioned many times apoptosis, or that time when a cell knows to shut down. So I cannot disagree with the notion of rational, fair, rationing. Singer, just wants to limit your healthcare … where’s the love?
Rational: a drug costs too much for the person at their age. Solution: find another less costly cure, or a rich person can spend extra money to afford it a supplimental insurance. Part of this premium, will be mandated to do research into lowering cost of over-limit (rationed) treatments. A win-win. The rich once again help themselves and the poor.
Fair: There is ONE GOVERNMENT HEALTH INSURANCE. That means government workers must give up sky’s-the-limit insurance. They will have the opportunity to pay a supplimental insurance, which will over 10 years increase to the rate everyone else would pay for the supplimental. Recognizing the hubristic greed of most government workers, they will not have to pay into a fund to support cheaper solutions for rationed treatments.
And then there’s the Singer wants to allow infanticide. That like what Obama allows today is criminally insane when there is a FAIR UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE insurance (FUHi). The exception is the physical health of the mother. No abortion funded by insurance, and absolutely no abortion after 24 weeks, unless court ordered with the details publicized. (You see, as grim as the punie human believes his or her condition, the expression of whatever condition allows a challenge, responsibility, and possible miracles instead of certain murders.
Let’s leave the killing for those who deserve it: repeat rapists, repeat pedophiles, murderers, terrorists, sadistic torturers. Now that DNA evidence is able to free those condemned, it should be good enough to allow for those convicted by DNA to relieve society’s suffering by a not cruel and not unusual death. That involves also limiting appeals when DNA evidence is conclusive.
Oh and another thing: DO NO HARM or Hippocratic Oath is not just a sometime thing. Best Practices, for whom? Balancing cost with risk. Example: Old lady A has cancerous colon polips. 2 choices: remove and they may come back for cost $5k; or take out your colon and you never have to worry about it for cost of $50k. Guess what: A chose plan 2 (I guess she wanted to crap in a bag for the rest of her life), but not so easy: the surgeon twisted a bowel in the OR and she almost died (last rights given.) So in again, and she was months in the hospital, wanted to die, and in about 2 years, did. Cost: $500k. The doctor was happy; the hospital got a patient for a much longer time.
My point: health insurance is a welfare program for the medical-industrial complex, and that’s on a good day; I swear with all the breathing tubes and crap and putting her horizontal in bed, it’s as if they wanted to kill her, esp. after the 2nd surgery… they got all the profit they needed and why risk a complaining former healthcare professional who knew all the botched procedures?
Another point: the Cheapest procedure is usually the best. Aspirin is better than Tylenol, and other shit. See what if the limit is the $50k and the surgery qualifies… but the botched job doesn’t, cause it’s 2 years in court and she’s dead… and the fix is another $300k?
Another example: They grab infants with insurance into the NICU; good luck with the seizures, the gentimycin sulfate (into arteries next to the brain as they collapse elsewhere, and that drug is just to make sure they don’t catch the diseases flying around the NICU, as the black mold air drips from the AC vents …. Calcium Sulfate breading molds and bacteria in the sulfate …. they don’t need oxygen … but looking for a host when they spray into the NICU. And then the topper … infant formula before July 1, 1994 in Florida was sanctioned by state law to have 40,000 bacteria per milliliter, and specifically mentioned e coli or shit stuff. After 7/1/1994, Florida no longer sanctioned it … in other words it was completely optional. Oh, great … and Baby B, my baby stepped in it. The good news, that only cost $18k in 1994 dollars… so that would be completely wonderful for your FUHi. To that, need I repeat myself … Fuhi. The only fun was when payment was refused, I happened to see the look on the opposing counsel’s face when I cited the July 1, 1994 law, and asked why infant’s white count was increasing … according to the record I was given, justifying the NICU proceedure. Oh note, that a parent cannot remove the infant from the care … that is a felony. Sweet. When the doctor, a pediatrician, who referred this infant into the NICU was asked why, when his signs were all improving and having consulted another pediatrician who was provided all the facts agreed, this pediatrician responded ’ I never made any money on that breastfed child, and so I ……’ He stopped himself … it was ‘What the fuck…. moment ’ He may have been interrupted…. and that’s what’s great about the public company ‘Pediatrix’, you can buy it on the big exchange, and make all the money back that you lost when they murder your child …
So personally, I don’t want health insurance, for the noted abuses before you … and that’s just a couple of the 10’s that I can recite. My wife wants me to have it … afraid that a big illness will bankrupt the family; but really I think she just wants to kill me.
I’m a big believer in apopotosis; exercise, everything in moderation, nothing to excess (thanks B.Franklin) … note that includes moderation.
