How can a society grow when it opens itself to corruption? Allowing those who would harm society vote for the one who would most likely advantage them, where is the sense?

I have often, but not enough, argued that jail, especially prolonged jail is Cruel and Unusual. You can go thru the dancing argument yourself, but the central theme is this, the more privilege you give to those who leach off society, the more it costs society, and then the more those borderline people who just barely can make it… but not anymore with higher taxes, and see the luxury given to prisoners … then they too may slip or decide to gamble their life, now that there is no real difference if they win or loose. Voting, free food, athletics, library, conjugal visits, etc.

It is an Apoptosis of society to restrict those who abuse life or who can no longer be fair with what they can justly earn… and so on this macro scale, we develop a Societal Cancer, a growth that consumes all the resources until like my dad’s sister, dying of Pancreatic cancer, on morphine feeling no pain looked like a pregnant skeleton, but who every morning got up to prepare breakfast for her family, and my visiting in the final two weeks of her life. And she deserved every ounce of painkiller as she was a victim, not the perp. of the social fabric or life in general.

If we could cure the cancer victim, by reinvigorating Apoptosis to kill off the strange, strangling, and greedy cells, and if we could cure the sociopath, murderer, thief, and pediofile by taking that evil and destructive force from within the individual, then ok … let the voting be restored to those individuals (and they somehow bare the cost or at least share in the cost of their cure). But alas we cannot, and the bureaucracy to judge and administer this is too cancerous for society as well - at present because the profit in housing criminals lobby is stronger than that mythical ‘cure-the-purp’ lobby.

So cost effective and proven with cost-benefit analysis has to be used. Until it is found, it is suicide, and illegal, and insane to allow a growth that will kill you to succeed.

Oh yeah, one more little detail: when Gitmo prisoners are reunited with their USA haters in prison, remember, they too, Al Qaida and all (we can’t discriminate) will be voting who to worst lead our country … and maybe a few times given the poor quality of security on Absentee Ballots … what a world, what a world …. as we melt as a nation away.

‘Clockwork Orange’ for those of you who care is one part of an example of what does and does not work. Kubrik, a great director, but disgusting provacateur of immorality, showed how to mentally erase ‘evil’ from a degenerate criminal ….. by negatively punishing thought traces as they were provoked by display and audition. However the end of the movie shows the breakdown and reversion into the depravity due to an impossible situation, ie the criminal as passive now to evil, becomes the victim and then the deeper store of defense and offense come out again.

So the flaw in the Psychophysics of the Restructure of the social reflexes is that there were no POSITIVE reinforcement. There were no music lessons, no discovery of what the person could contribute… would love to contribute …. and so no compass to lead one away, as in anticipate an evil situation and hide in a positive milieu, like home, a friend, music, art, writing, walk on the beach, candy, religion, ice cream, a pony etc.

Reprogramming a negative into a positive can be expensive and overdone. The limits will have to be matched with advances of the individual or his or her potential to succeed within the positive. A shorter or steeper learning curve potential, perhaps can be measured cheaply for each individual in a non-threatening setting. Some limit to the propensity of good people to be overly good and thereby depriving unseen others who need some goodness, must be foundational to the success of restoring an individual to wholeness.

Examples of what is really stupid policy: sending food and supplies to people who hate those who are the victims of that hatred and have no other means of caring for themselves, and so the increased food to unemployed makes more babies who grow up to hate the victims of their hatred and have no gainful means because they are rewarded and fed gratuitously without any expectation except that they will continue to victimize innocents and be fed because they are too busy hating and killing to earn any livilihood. Go to Gaza, West bank, where we are funding a Fatah army, who have already used their weapons to kill our ‘friends’, the Israelis. Gaza was a gift back to the Arabs and now is a base of hate against those who gifted.
