Although I connected into this blog based on my interest in BEC’s, it is Karl Pribram’s theory that I have a certain affinity for. My mentor, Robert Correll, at the Hartford Hospital, worked with KP until with a wee scandal, was off to Stanford. KP’s contribution to a book, ‘Neurology and Emotion’, 1967 was the first chapter, ‘Emotion: Steps Toward a Neuropsychological Theory. His Hegelian approach, was unconscious, but synchronized with the 19th century genius, as only an enlighted 20th century genius could. Preparatory alters input; Participatory includes input, but both are led to congruence by external and internal testing. Processing occurs between the Hippocampus Inhibiting… and so becoming directional … and the Amygdala enhancing … and so becoming connecting. What is difficult is to manage the language and the ideas. Much of what we do is a process or sequence of words which varies and makes a single expression difficult. Pribram sees a program, an operational modeling that is based on functionality, not another set of words cannot be assigned a value.
Penrose, as facinating and as prolific as he is, seems to create ONION theories where one is encased in another and so on. Not so much peeling the onion as growing it.
Well, I’m hopefully working on the Pribram/Correll track and with my dad’s emotional Hegelian expression of Affection, Authority, and Approval sums up the contribution of emotion to our lives. It should make it satisfying… often not because Authority is warped and Approval is then misguided. Over Affection ….. also leads to …. you get the drift. Stay tuned.

Skinner, about my dad’s reference to some of Skinner’s experimental work used on his daughter…. something BFS wanted retracted. My dad’s handwritten reply will be posted or published in the 2nd edition. Well, thanks, B. F. for at least seriously reading my dad’s work. Sorry I didn’t catch it; and I’m going to have to spend some time to see what exactly was written, said, written, etc.
